Managing stress successfully needn't involve powerful medications.
You can drastically reduce stress levels naturally and here are
four stress management tips you can use to quickly boost your
mood levels.
Treat yourself to a pamper day. This is a day where you escape
from the hustle and bustle of everyday living and enjoy some stress-free
time. You'll also feel great and give your well being a huge boost.
On this day, have a light workout, a swim, a sauna, a Jacuzzi,
a steam room. A massage would be nice and if you have access to
one, a Turkish baths will give you an invigorating experience.
Try to do this at least once a month, it is very effective technique
for managing stress.
Performing the same routines day in day out really can become
a grind. Although routine gives us a sense of certainty and security,
it can also make us feel like robots who live a predictable existence.
This feeling can trigger stress, depression and anxiety as you
don't enjoy life when you feel it is predictable. So try to vary
your days: start and finish work at different times, don't eat
the same types of meal each day (e.g. cereal for breakfast each
day), vary how you start the day (go for a swim, a walk, a jog,
rise at different times) and try to visit somewhere new at least
twice a month (a restaurant, a museum, a theatre, a town etc.)
as this will help to bring variety to life and keep life interesting.
It's also a great way of easily managing stress without making
major changes.
Start and end each day in a positive way. Listen to upbeat music,
and avoid reading or watching anything too heavy. For example,
starting the day by watching an hour-long news bulletin filled
with images of war, crime and disasters is not a good way to brighten
your mood. Instead, turn off the TV and play some easy- listening
music. 70's disco works for me, as does R & B. It certainly
beats watching war and violence over breakfast! Also, try not
to listen to heavy music or read something heavy - a horror story
for example - before you retire to bed. These are simple stress
management techniques to cut down your exposure to negative influences
but they are highly effective and will improve your moods very
quickly.
One of the most damaging ways to trigger a severe episode of
stress, depression or anxiety concerns the way meanings are applied
to an event or events you face. If you apply a single, worst-outcome
meaning to an event, you will arouse powerful emotions within
you and your mental health will suffer. Please try not to assign
single negative outcomes to problems. Single negative outcomes
are rarely true and are a recipe for stress, depression and anxiety.
Generate multiple outcomes to problems and work towards more positive
solutions. Rarely will a single, negative outcome be true and
if you take a step back and take your time to assign a meaning,
you will generate more positive solutions and reduce stress enormously.
All of the above will work for you so resolve to put what you've
read into action and you'll soon notice a real difference.
